Five Reasons I Didn’t Kill Myself…

Hi Lovebugs,

I am not sure if this post needs a trigger warning because the title of the post is pretty self explanatory. This weekend I had to find five reasons to live. I really should change the title if I think about it. I was not going to be an active participant in my own demise HOWEVER, the thought of death was comforting.

I won’t go into the details of the who or the why of what happen. Sorry to disappoint the 10 people that came to be nosy. Feel free to click off right about now.

I’ll wait.

After Kickback Giveback #SRInTheBagChallenge

Hi Lovebugs,

Here is part two of our amazing #boozybrunch at Quinto La Huella. Because no matter how hard we kick back, the best part of my birthday celebrations is making sure to give back.

For those who didn’t read about the Sew Right In the Bag Challenge in the previous post, here are the details. In the tradition of my birthday celebrations over the years, I decided (with the help of friends) to provide womxn centric items in 38 gently used bags/totes between now and my birthday 2020.

I’m back! No Really This Time.

Hey Lovebugs!

img_3693I am so sorry for the lapse in blogging but let’s just say July/August was a roller coaster in the life of KK.

I got my CAPM certification, my birthday came and went, we started delivering bags for the SR In The Bag Challenge, and the love affair that was KK and Jai… changed.

I wasn’t actually going to tell you all, but honesty is part of the journey. No matter how ugly and hurtful. I promise not to overload you all with all of the details, many of which I am processing myself, BUT I can tell you, we are both better for it.

So what does all that mean…. MORE BLOG CONTENT COMING SOON.

I am working on the editorial schedule but trust me you will get more than your fair share of KK for now on. Thanks for those who stayed with me.

Happy Birthday to Me #SRInTheBagChallenge

Hi Lovebugs!

Today I looked at the calendar and realized that in 20 days your girl will be celebrating her 28th birthday… for the 9th time. Wow how time flies.

For those who know me in the “real world”, since 2015, I have been happy and blessed to incorporate social gifting into my birthday fun.

One part party and one part cause, I invited friends to my annual birthday kickbacks, where I provided all the drinks and food. The only thing that I asked was for people to bring items for us to compile and distribute to the local homeless community. The response was amazing. I am blessed to have friends that jumped on the call to action. Year after year, the bags got bigger and they were still consistently filled[1].

This year I am taking the challenge outside (and inside) of Miami. I am asking you all to help me with the Sew Right In the Bag Birthday challenge. Continue reading Happy Birthday to Me #SRInTheBagChallenge

It’s Morninggggg! – Positive Affirmations and Glowing Skin

Hi Lovebugs!

I have been really excited and in love with my morning routine for the last few weeks.

For those that know me (or have read some of my recent blog posts), I have been on a whole life affirming journey. As I am working on my next upcoming chapter (more coming — stay tuned), I have realized that I need to be more diligent and deliberate in how I spend my time and reach my goals.

I am a creature of habit. Both good habits and bad, if I’m honest. When my life is a mess, it is a BIG MESS. When my life is on an upward trajectory, I am a whole mood. I have to be intentional about every aspect of my life so I decided the morning is the way to set the pace. Is it just me or if  you have a great morning, your day goes better?

For the record, this post is for sure not trying to get you to do my routine. It is just a post to share how I figured out what works for me and hopefully it will give you a little zhuzh[1].. I know for ME my routine gets me feeling awake, productive and affirmed before the day starts going. Here goes…

Date Night: Boiled Rabbit and Other Cautionary Tales

Hi Lovebugs!

So as many of you know Jai and I are in a long distance relationship (for now). We do everything we can to keep it together from love letters to long trips. We have gotten very creative over the last year and a half.

One of my favorite things we do is Facetime date night.

We have watched everything from Power when it is on (I am team Tasha), the Wire (it is definitely worth a rewatch), and a zillion movies. I love doing my face and getting all glam.  The smile I get when she answers and sees me for the first time makes me feel warm and happy. I swear every time it is like the first time.

So last night, it was my time to pick the movie of the week.

I selected an oldie but a goodie, Glenn Close’s tour de force portrayal of Alex Foster in Fatal Attraction.

You Say They’re Just a Friend…

Hi Lovebugs,

Let me first say that I am completely taking this song out of context but it is one that is ringing in my ears.

Over the last two days, I have had an epitome. I need to re-cultivate friendships that I have let go.

I was having a conversation with Jai about the market for friendship speed dating when I had that ah-ha moment. Why in the world would I need to do something like that when I know and have known some really amazing people? I can count over a dozen folx without even thinking too hard. The problem isn’t finding people to be friends with, but sustaining those friendships. I really suck at that. Continue reading You Say They’re Just a Friend…
