Tips to a Big Fun/Small Budget Trip to Turks and Caicos #KKDays

Yes my log in still works… whew.

We just back this weekend from a really relaxing time in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos so I wanted to share some tips.

Turks and Caicos has the reputation of being a very expensive island to visit. We read stories of people having to take out loans for sunscreen and selling plasma to pay for drinks at the bar. While that wasn’t our experience, I can see how that happens.  We did extremely well sticking to our budget but it was definitely a plan. KREAD: Pat Greene: Her Story by ANONDRA “KAT” WILLIAMS

41locwguhBL Well well well, here’s another one and another one. Yes I am pretending I am a rapper instead of a blogger… and what?

hits b-girl stance

Like most series on this blog, I haven’t written a KRead review in a while. But seeing that today is National Book Day, I decided to get back on the proverbial horse.

This is actually the second book I will be reviewing by Anondra “Kat” Williams. Way back when I read her first offering black girl love. For those who haven’t read it, it is an extremely sensual experience… hmm… that I might have to relive.

Fast forward five years to her newest work, Pat Greene: Her Story. I must admit, this book has been languishing in my Amazon Kindle queue for a while, but I am very happy I finally read it.

Plot Snapshot: The coming of age story of Pat Greene, a black lesbian everywoman, filled with love, loss and a little lust.

SUPER GAY MOVIE REVIEW OF THE WEEK: SHE HATE ME

She-Hate-Me-images-239543a1-f71e-401a-af1f-aa47a26f560Ok so don’t let me lie to the universe (me included) and say I will be blogging everyday but I am definitely proud of myself with this two day in a row track record.

I haven’t  done a Super Gay Movie Review in a looooong time. I actually didn’t have any plans on doing one today until I saw that it is the 26th anniversary of Mo Betta Blues.

I LOVE THAT MOVIE!!!1

While reminiscing over all my favorite Spike Lee movies a vision of Kerry Washington’s pre-Scandal, fine as frog legs, extra big succulent lips having self flickered in my mind.

sigh

That’s pretty much all it took to get my CREATIVE juices flowing, so with that being said..

NOW WATCHING: She Hate Me directed by Spike Lee

I Don’t Want to Be a Hashtag…

So I am sitting here in Starbucks illegally downloading movies on piratebay enjoying my iced coconut milk il_570xN.1051635703_ahhqcaramel macchiato this fine Sunday morning and felt a crazy wave of frustration come over me. If you are my FB friend you have seen spurts of these in the last month… they are usually 4 sentence long with some form of witty wordplay to protect my non-POC friends from being uncomfortable.

Because you know making non-POC people feel comfortable is the responsibility  of every “good black person” to combat the scariness of those angry radical ones…

Sigh…. I am angry. I am still angry. I am angry that a week ago (the night after the Dallas shooting) I was in genuine fear for my life.  Continue reading I Don’t Want to Be a Hashtag…
