SUPER GAY MOVIE REVIEW OF THE WEEK: SHE HATE ME

I haven’t  done a Super Gay Movie Review in a looooong time. I actually didn’t have any plans on doing one today until I saw that it is the 26th anniversary of Mo Betta Blues.

I LOVE THAT MOVIE!!!1

While reminiscing over all my favorite Spike Lee movies a vision of Kerry Washington’s pre-Scandal, fine as frog legs, extra big succulent lips having self flickered in my mind.

sigh

That’s pretty much all it took to get my CREATIVE juices flowing, so with that being said..

Super Gay Movie Review of the Week: Ambrosia

ambrosiaOkay so maybe this isn’t the super gay movie of the week… or the month… or maybe even the year but this is indeed the first Super Gay Movie in a very long damn time.

Now before I go into the actual review I blame myself and Netflix for watching this movie.

See what had happened was I was working on my journals last night and I needed some distraction. So I said “Hey let me watch a lezzie movie on Netflix.” I searched lesbian movie and for some reason this was the only one that came up. There was a hot ethnic (yes I said ethnic) woman on the poster… so I was sold.

Yeah… I know that’s what I get.

Now watching: Ambrosia directed By Baharak Saeid Monir

Happy Monday! As fans of super gay movies, we are extremely excited about Sistah Sinema on IndieFlix. Curated and founded by @IsisAsare (photographed below), Sistah Sinema’s  goal is to become an international distribution network for Queer Women of Color cinema. Isis-Asare-Sistah-Sinema Adding roughly five titles each month to the platform,viewers will be introduced (and sometimes re-introduced) to independent titles by QWOC that they just won’t find on Netflix.

Winter_Party_Festival_Logo_0_0ARTSCAPE: A FUNDRAISER FOR THE NATIONAL LGBTQ TASK FORCE DURING WINTER PARTY FESTIVAL IN MIAMI BEACH March 4-9, 2015.

Eligibility: Professional and amateur artists, crafts people, designers and photographers, are invited to submit entries for this exhibition. All entries must be of original design and personal execution. The National LGBTQ Task Force will not be responsible for any copyright or other infringement.

Work Media & Size: Any 2-D media, all visual disciplines: painting, drawing, prints, craft, photography, sculpture or video. We are ideally looking for pieces no taller or wider than 4’ – Larger pieces will need to be delivered to the venue.

Super Gay Movie Review:  Starrbooty — starring @RuPaul

StarrbootyFirst, let me just say that my Starrbooty movie experience has been an adventure in the making. Back when this girl was a barely legal, college radio DJ on the graveyard shift at WRAS Atlanta 88.5fm (shameless plug), a caller requested a song from RuPaul’s Starrbooty.  I can’t recall all of the details but I ended up finding the album and playing the title track.  It was the most goddess-awful things I’d ever heard…and yet, I was in love.

I searched for her over the years and got close to finding her a few times but that Starrbooty kept eluding me. Finally, I heard that there was a new Starrbooty movie out and she was better than ever.  I am not disappointed. I am not only satisfied, I am GAGGING. maki_blonskyFirst of all, I loved this movie. Hands down it was one of my favorite gay teen centered movies ever. It was cute without being cutesy and dramatic but not overwrought. If my school had a secret gay club, maybe I would’ve joined. But we didn’t, at least not that I know of…but if we had, I wish it could’ve been like this. I have had my fill of lesbian drama. Ok. Let me restate that please. I am sick and tired of WATCHING lesbian drama on my digital devices. With that being said, I am all for lesbian comedy. It’s about time
someone came along with a sense of humor. I was beginning to lose faith in my sisters. We can’t all be so serious all the time can we? I am also sick of seeing black women languishing behind bars…which is
